Create a Journey Map with AI

Use Alex AI Assistant to create and enrich Journey Maps

Updated over 2 months ago

Use Alex, the built-in AI assistant, to quickly generate a Journey Map from your inputs. This allows you to go from a blank page to a structured map in just minutes.

Alex AI will craft a comprehensive map based on a briefing you provide or any relevant documents from your research, interviews, or other sources.

As your Journey Management assistant, Alex AI creates an initial draft of your journey. You can then review, validate, modify and enrich Alex AI’s output. It’s much easier to refine an initial draft than to start from scratch.

👉 With Alex AI, you can revamp and speed up your journey mapping process when creating new maps. Contact us at [email protected] to explore this further.

Let’s explore how you can leverage Alex AI to create your next map.

Generate a Journey Map from a prompt

  1. Go to the Journey Maps board

  2. Click New Journey Map

  3. Select Generate with Alex (AI)

  1. In the Alex (AI) panel, select Text Prompt:

  • Provide a brief description of the journey you want created

  • Select the Lanes to include, or choose to start from a predefined journey Template. Using a Template is especially useful if your organization has established Templates, as Alex AI will then structure the map accordingly

  • Choose the Persona for this journey

  • Click Generate

You can close the screen while Alex AI is working. You’ll receive a notification when the Journey Map is ready.

Prompt best practices

Some recommendations when creating the prompt

  • Be Specific: Clearly define what you need from Alex AI to ensure accurate results. The more specific you are, the more accurate the results you will have

  • Use Clear Language: Simple and precise language helps Alex AI understand your requirements better

  • Identify the Journey Type: Specify whether it’s a master journey or a stage journey to tailor the approach accordingly

  • Set the Context: Provide details such as Persona characteristics, localization, brand, business line, touchpoints, or whether it’s an omnichannel approach. This ensures Alex AI generates relevant and contextualized outputs

  • Use Examples: Give Alex AI examples to align the output with your expectations

  • Test Various Prompts: Experiment with different prompts until you achieve the desired outcome

Here you can find some examples for a retail business which can help inspire you:

  • “Create a customer journey for a Digital new client when purchasing an iPhone online”

  • “Map a customer journey for a child who goes with her mother to buy glasses in an optical shop in Dallas”

  • “Map a customer journey for an existing customer when returning a fridge that is not working well”

  • “Create a journey when going to XXX shop to purchase a washing machine, including an extended warranty”

  • “Create a journey for a non-formal customer asking for a credit to purchase a kitchen in Peru”
