How to manage Lanes' behavior when working with several Personas

Understand the impact of linking and switching mulitple Personas on your Journey Map Lanes

Updated over a week ago

This article explains how different Lane types in the Journey behave when working with multiple Personas. It details which Lanes are linked to specific Personas, how to view and switch Persona data, and which elements are global and unaffected by Persona changes.

Lane Types linked to Personas

There are several Lane types linked to Personas, such as text Lanes, list items, Comments, Interactions, Insights, Opportunities, Solutions, Actions, Feedback data, Touchpoints and Feelings. They will allow you to map the details for every Persona included in the map.

These Lanes do not display information from multiple Personas simultaneously, requiring manual switching to access each Persona's data. To view or edit data for a different Persona, you must switch to that Persona on the map.

Check below how to change the Persona in your map to visualize their specific information:

Lane Type

Behavior

Text

Texts cannot be reused across different Personas or maps. To view a different Persona's texts, you must change the Persona on the map.

List Items

List items cannot be reused across personas or maps. Switching Personas is required to view different list items.

Comments

Linked to a specific Persona. Comments are not reusable across personas or maps. To view comments for a different Persona, select a different Persona on the map.

Interactions

Linked to a specific Persona. While Touchpoints can be reused across Personas, Interactions are persona-specific. To visualize Interactions, switch the Persona. Touchpoints from different Personas can be viewed simultaneously, but Interactions require changing the Persona.

Insights

Linked to a specific Persona. Insights can be easily reused from the form across multiple Personas. All insights from all Personas are visible in the lane, regardless of the selected Persona. To see linked Personas, open individual records.

Opportunities

Same behavior as insights: reusable across Personas, visible from the form, and all records are shown regardless of linked Personas. To view specific Persona links, open the records.

Solutions

Similar to Insights and Opportunities: reusable and visible across all Personas, with links accessible by opening records.

Actions

Follows the same pattern: can be reused, visible from the form, and all links are accessible via record-opening.

Feedback Data

Linked to a specific Persona. To visualize feedback data from another Persona, change the persona on the map. Multiple personas cannot be displayed at the same time from feedback items.

Touchpoints

Linked to a specific Persona. To view different Personas’ touchpoints, change the Persona.

Feeling

Same as touchpoints and feedback, linked to a specific Persona. Changing the Persona on the map is necessary to see different feeling data.

Lane types not linked to any Persona (global for all Personas)

Lane types, such as projects, images, divider lines, links & files, journey maps, KPIs, timing, system information, departments and custom libraries, are global elements accessible to all Personas.

They are not linked to specific Personas and provide a consistent, shared view across the entire map, are unaffected by Persona switches.
