How to design, save and control your organizational templates for Journey Maps and Personas

Updated today

What are Templates in Cemantica?

With Cemantica, you have access to sample data and templates for both Journeys and Personas.

Here you can see how to use the Cemantica Templates when creating a new Journey:

With Cemantica, you can create customizable templates to streamline and standardize your processes.

This functionality helps ensure consistency and coherence across your team’s work, making collaboration more efficient. Within the Cemantica Journey Management platform, you have the flexibility to design and save templates for both Journey Maps and Personas, enabling quick reuse and a unified approach across projects.

All of your templates can be accessed through the Settings menu under Templates.

How to create a Journey Template

The Journey Map Templates allow you, as an Admin user, to define and structure Templates for the teams to use when mapping the journeys.

You can define templates by Workspace.

👉 The Workspace feature is only available for the Enterprise package. If you want to know more, please contact us at [email protected], and our team will be happy to assist you

To create a new Journey Map Template, you can do so from two different places, the Templates board and from a Journey Map.

Create a Template from the Templates board

Go to Settings and click on Templates under the Workspace section.

You can start creating your template from a Cemantica template.

Create a Template from a Journey Map

Straight from a map you can save it as a Template - note that if you save it as Template from a map you will still need to go to the Template tab under Settings to publish it. By default upon creation it saves as "Unpublished".

Lock and publish a Template

Once you create your Template - whether from an existing record or straight from the Settings menu, you will be able to find all your Templates in the Settings menu under the tab Templates.

If you open a Template from the Settings you will find two toggle buttons:

  • "Design Lock" button

  • "Public" button

Upon the creation of a template it will by default be on "unlock" and "unpublished". To modify that you can simply open your Template from the Settings menu and use the toggle buttons to change the status.

Locking a Map allows you to control how users will modify the Journey Map when using the Template. They won't be able to change the structure of the journeys: the order of Phases, Stages an Lanes as well as removing them or changing the names of these Lanes.

Locking a Persona will allow you to control the overall structure of the template: the users will not be able to move around the sections, delete or edit them.

When a Template is set to "unpublish," it means that users will not see it appearing under the "Organizational Templates" when they create a new Map or a new Persona.

How to create a Persona Template

The Persona Templates allow you, as an Admin user, to define and structure Templates for the teams to use when mapping the personas.

You can define templates by Workspace.

👉 The Workspace feature is only available for the Enterprise package. If you want to know more, please contact us at [email protected], and our team will be happy to assist you

To create a new Persona Template, you can do so from two different places: the Templates board, same process as when creating a Journey map template, and from an existing Persona.

Straight from a Persona, you can save it as a Template - note that if you save it as a Template from a Persona, you will still need to go to the Template tab under Settings to publish it. By default, upon creation, it saves as "Unpublished".
