Publishing & Saving a Survey

How survey configurations are finalized and saved in Cemantica?

Publishing & Saving a Survey

Once you've finished building your survey, it's time to review and publish it.

Before publishing, make sure you're happy with your questions, settings, and logic, as published surveys cannot be edited directly.

1. Working with draft surveys

While you're building your survey, its status is displayed as Draft.

You can find draft surveys in the Surveys section of your workspace, where you can return to continue working on them.

Before publishing, review:

  • Your question titles and answer options.

  • Required questions and validation rules.

  • Page order and navigation settings.

  • Conditional logic and branching.

  • The survey's completion message.

2. Previewing your survey

Before publishing:

  1. Open your survey.

  2. Click Preview in the top-right corner.

  3. Complete the survey as a respondent would.

  4. Test any conditional logic and required questions.

  5. Check that the survey displays and behaves as expected.

Return to the Builder tab if you need to make any final adjustments.

3. Publishing your survey

Once you're ready:

  1. Open your survey.

  2. Click the orange Publish button in the top-right corner.

  3. A confirmation notification will appear indicating that the survey has been published.

  4. The survey's status will change from Draft to Active.

Your survey is now published and ready to be sent.

4. Making changes after publishing

Once a survey is published, its questions, logic, and translations are locked to keep responses consistent.

You'll see the following message at the top of the Builder:

"This survey is published. Questions, logic and translations are locked to keep responses consistent. To make changes, duplicate the survey."

If you need to make changes, duplicate the survey and update the new version.

To duplicate a published survey:

  1. Open the published survey.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (•••) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Duplicate.

  4. Open the duplicated survey and make your changes.

  5. Once you're happy with the updated version, publish it.

This ensures that changes to your survey don't affect the structure of responses collected from the published version.

5. Managing your published survey

Once your survey is published, you can access additional management options from the three-dot menu (•••) in the top-right corner.

These include:

  • Export: Export your survey.

  • Duplicate: Create a copy of your survey.

  • Manage access: Control who has access to the survey.

  • Unpublish: Remove the survey from its published state.

  • Archive: Archive a survey you no longer need to keep active.

  • Delete: Delete the survey.

To access these options, open your survey and click the three-dot menu next to Send Survey.

6. Finding your published surveys

You can view all your surveys in Workspace → Surveys.

The Surveys list displays information such as:

  • Name: The survey's title.

  • Status: Whether the survey is Draft or Active.

  • Responses: The number of responses collected.

  • Recipients: The audience associated with the survey.

  • Created by: The user who created the survey.

  • Created on: The survey creation date.

You can use the search field to find a specific survey.

Tip: Publishing makes a survey active, but doesn't automatically send it to respondents. See Sending Surveys to learn how to distribute your survey

The Survey Tool is available as part of the Cemantica JVMP plan. To learn more about JVMP and its capabilities, contact us at [email protected].
